‘Tis the season to celebrate special gatherings with family and friends. With all the fun activities in the Houston area, it’s not too late to make wonderful holiday memories.
We’ve made a list of events to enjoy and checked it twice. One of them is bound to be in your neighborhood.
Through Jan. 14

Stroll through the zoo that has been transformed into a winter wonderland. Enjoy hot chocolate, thousands of twinkling lights and life-sized animated animal sculptures.

One Hope Blvd., Galveston
There’s fun for the whole family at the spectacular Moody Gardens holiday event. Don’t miss the 100-foot slide, ice skating and a mile-long trail of a million+ lights and animated displays sparkling over beautiful Galveston Bay.
Through Jan. 21
1500 McKinney, Houston (downtown)
Ice skate amid the downtown skyline at Discovery Green’s immense 7,716-square-foot outdoor ice skating rink. Plus, family-friendly activities like concerts and movies are scheduled throughout the holidays at the park.

Rainforest Café at Katy Mills Mall
Delight in a bountiful breakfast buffet with Santa, goodie bags, prizes and lots of fun holiday activities. Reservations required. Ticket prices vary.
Bass Pro Shop at Katy Mills Mall
Kids can make crafts, take a photo with Santa and enjoy free games and activities. You must obtain a free Bass Pass in store. They are limited and go quickly each day. Please see website for details.

This event is the largest holiday light festival in Houston and the largest lantern festival of its kind in the U.S. Kids of all ages will love six fascinating themed sections, an interactive dinosaur exhibit, daily acrobatic performances, amusement rides and more.

1407 Victory Lane, Alvin
All aboard to enjoy a truly unique holiday experience via the Christmas Train. Families will love seeing colorful gingerbread villages, penguin snow lands and life-size storybook illustrations. Trains depart every 7-10 minutes. Cost is $7 for prior purchase and $10 at the station.

Constellation Field, Sugarland
The fourth annual Sugar Land Holiday Lights event features more than 100 walk-through displays and 2.5 million lights throughout the park! Enjoy food trucks, theme nights and a carnival, too.

This event includes a lavish breakfast, a special craft, holiday music and photos with the Jolly Old Soul himself, Santa. Discounts for families of two or three.
