Fall Décor Tips

This year, enjoy your most festive fall ever. Curl up in a cozy sweater, warm the apple cider and decorate your home with the best of the season. Then, welcome your friends and family in festive style. These tips can help bring an abundance of fall flair to your home.

Choose memorable colors. ‘Tis the season to connect with nature, so bring in an earth-inspired color scheme. Choose shades of orange, moss green, burgundy or creamy white, inspired by falling leaves. Carry throughout your home with throw pillows, table runners, centerpieces and ultra-soft throws..

Enjoy an inviting aroma. Nothing says autumn more than the enticing scent of fresh cinnamon or pumpkin. Bake a loaf of pumpkin bread, or purchase candles with seasonal scents like cinnamon apple or pumpkin pie. If you’re feeling ambitious, simmer a sweet combination of apples, oranges, lemon, allspice, cloves and cinnamon sticks in a crockpot to deliver a delicious scent over your whole house.

Bring in the outdoors.  Give your table or bookshelf a quick fall fix with a few artfully scattered leaves. Buy colorful ones at your local craft store, or go natural and gather your own.  Leaves are especially festive for when you have guests over for dinner parties or holidays. Write your guests’ names on them and use for placeholders or use leaves as a finishing touch on top of a cheery place setting.

Get creative with pumpkins. For a bright pop on your porch or table, paint faux pumpkins with metallic gold or white paint. Or decorate them by using Mod Podge to cover them with strips of patterned fabric. Kids can get involved, too, with markers, stickers and easy-to-apply decorations. Display larger pumpkins on your porch or smaller ones as your centerpiece.

Plaid it up. Plaid isn’t just for your favorite oversized flannel.  Add a plaid pillow or throw to your couch for an instant cozy autumn upgrade. Or choose a fall wreath with a perky, oversize plaid bow.

Find accent pieces. If your home has a neutral color scheme, find bright pieces to add warmth. A burnt orange table runner and a wooden accent piece will go a long way. For a bolder move, consider painting an accent wall. Burnt orange or darker reds look beautiful alongside those wooden accents.

Create a cozy corner.  Place an oversized comfy chair near a bookshelf in a corner of your home to turn it into your personal reading nook. Throw a faux fur blanket over the seat and add some fluffy plush pillows for the ultimate comfort on a chilly evening. Settle in with a good book and steamy cup of cocoa.
